Why the LGBT Community Should Love Award-Winning Viola Davis

The reasons aren’t hard to guess at all. If it wasn’t for her incredible acting skills, her fearless ambition to show real people on TV through her characters, and that moment when *SPOILER* she kisses/sleeps with Famke Janssen in How To Get Away With Murder, then it should certainly be for her avid support for LGBT equality and rights.

In a recent interview, the Emmy-winning actress has spoken up about her desire to help LGBT families, and she sees the lack of support and acceptance that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people have across the world – and she isn’t happy about it. At the Tribeca Film Festival, Ms. Davis said,

I’m fighting for you. I believe in you. I think that I’m just as outraged as you are. I think you’re worthy of every right that ever human being in this country, in this world, has been afforded.

As a mother to a beautiful daughter herself, Davis knows how important it is, and it’s super important for the LGBT community to have such a bold person of power and influence on our side.

She later mentioned her disdain for those in charge of movie and film production who use minority groups as plot devices instead of real people.

There are so many people who are disenfranchised, who are put in a classical narrative and then just as a device, a stereotype, and it becomes a reflection of our mindset of how we don’t want to explore them as human beings.

How can you not love her?
